Financial Accounting Manager

About the role

A qualified accountant opportunity leading financial reporting, controls, compliance, and transactional finance within a large, complex organisation. You'll drive month‑end reporting, statutory accounts, VAT compliance, and finance transformation while partnering with senior stakeholders across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end and year‑end reporting processes
• Maintain ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and financial control accounts
• Oversee VAT compliance, returns, and HMRC requirements
• Support statutory accounts preparation and external audits
• Provide technical accounting expertise across the finance team
• Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
• Support treasury management and cash‑flow forecasting
• Drive improvements to financial processes, controls, and reporting
• Lead, coach, and develop finance team members
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualification
• Significant experience within a financial accounting environment
• Strong knowledge of statutory reporting and financial controls
• Experience managing complex balance sheet reconciliations
• Proven background in VAT compliance and reporting
• Previous leadership experience within finance teams
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive continuous improvement
• Experience within a large, complex organisation; exposure to ERP systems and the not‑for‑profit sector is advantageous
