Financial Controller – Statutory Accounts & Group Consolidation

About the role

This senior, technically‑focused Financial Controller will report directly to the CFO and own the group’s statutory reporting, audit and tax compliance across multiple territories. The position is hybrid, based in Manchester.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for UK entities and the consolidated group accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cash‑flow statement, SOCIE and supporting notes.
• Manage end‑to‑end audit relationships with group auditors and local audit firms overseas, ensuring timely statutory filings.
• Prepare and sign off corporation tax packs, handle tax advisor queries, and oversee VAT, sales tax, payroll tax and CIS filings.
• Coordinate with overseas advisors on local statutory accounts, tax filings and foreign‑exchange accounting for subsidiaries.
• Collaborate with the Head of Accounts to maintain robust financial controls, support budgeting and forecasting, and lead a financial accounts team.
• Drive process and system improvements across the finance function.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a finance department with solid statutory accounts and tax knowledge.
• Proven experience liaising with auditors in the UK and internationally.
• Exposure to international transfer pricing is advantageous.
• Track record of challenging existing processes and delivering improvements.
• Comfortable communicating with senior stakeholders and the C‑suite.
