Fire Safety Lead Instructor

About the role

The Fire Service College is seeking a Lead Fire Safety Instructor to help manage its Protection & Prevention delivery team. You will deliver fire safety and risk training both virtually and face‑to‑face, supporting the development of tutors and ensuring high‑quality learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing, developing and maintaining the training delivery team, including full‑time and associate tutors.
• Provide fire safety and risk instruction to delegates in digital and classroom settings, with occasional travel.
• Assess and mark delegate work to ensure competency standards are met.
• Ensure teaching resources and learning environments are fit for purpose and aligned with customer needs.
• Support ongoing development and updating of course content.

Required profile

• Previous experience leading a team in a regulatory fire‑service environment or similar.
• Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (or equivalent) or Fire Risk Assessment qualification.
• Competence in fire safety, building regulations and/or quality assurance.
• Strong knowledge of technical fire safety standards such as ADB, BS 9999, BS 9991, BS 9251 and experience across domestic, commercial and industrial premises.
• Passion for the fire‑safety sector.

• Salary range £48,000 – £52,000 per year, dependent on experience.
