Food Technology Teacher

About the role

Veritas Education is partnering with a supportive secondary school in Wigan to hire a Food Technology Teacher for a September start. The role involves delivering both practical and theoretical food technology lessons to Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering students' culinary skills, creativity, and understanding of healthy living.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Assess, monitor and support student progress and achievement.
• Maintain a safe, well‑equipped classroom environment.
• Promote high standards of behaviour, learning and teaching.
• Contribute to departmental and whole‑school initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Food Technology in a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge of food, nutrition and culinary techniques.
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management abilities.
• Effective communication and organisational skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of food technology curriculum.
• Ability to design and execute practical cooking sessions safely.
• Proficiency in assessing student work and providing constructive feedback.
