Full Stack Engineer – Innovation Team (Remote, UK)

About the role

Join the Innovation Team at Matomo to design and deliver privacy‑first analytics features. You will work remotely from anywhere in the United Kingdom, collaborating directly with the CTO and senior engineers to turn high‑impact concepts into production‑ready solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and implement new backend (PHP) and frontend (JavaScript) features that extend Matomo’s core platform.
• Utilise additional technologies such as Python and Node.js when required.
• Rapidly explore, validate, and integrate AI‑powered insights and analytics ideas.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery of innovations, balancing speed with quality.
• Identify and resolve blockers, escalating when necessary.
• Write automated tests, review code, and produce clear technical documentation.
• Maintain security best practices and stay current with emerging technologies.
• Collaborate via Slack, Jira, and Confluence with co‑founders and senior engineers.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Proven ability to work autonomously in a small, remote team.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and willingness to experiment.
