General Operative / Handyperson – HMP Foston Hall

About the role

We are looking for a motivated General Operative/Handyperson to join Amey’s facilities‑management team at HMP Foston Hall. You will support the prison’s maintenance programme, carrying out both planned and reactive tasks to keep the secure estate safe, clean and operational.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a variety of general maintenance and DIY tasks across the prison site, assisting specialist tradespeople where required.
• Carry out reactive repairs and scheduled work in line with health‑and‑safety standards and contractual obligations.
• Support the team manager with routine facilities‑management duties, including stock checks and basic reporting.
• Maintain accurate records of work carried out and ensure compliance with security and safety procedures.
• Contribute to the prison’s zero‑carbon and sustainability initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in DIY or general building maintenance.
• CITB‑recognised construction health and safety certification or an equivalent qualification.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to a secure working environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
• Eligibility for Prison Security Clearance (support will be provided).
