About the role

The Graduate Teaching Assistant role offers recent graduates a valuable entry point into the education sector. Working within a supportive secondary school in Cambridge, you will assist teachers and help pupils achieve their academic and personal goals during term time.

Key responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons across a range of subjects.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to help students make progress.
• Deliver targeted interventions and contribute to student development plans.
• Encourage positive behaviour and support effective classroom management.
• Work with pupils who have additional learning needs, including SEND.
• Build positive relationships with students to foster academic and personal growth.
• Participate in wider school activities and contribute to the school community.

Required profile

• Degree qualification (2:2 or above) in any subject.
• Genuine passion for working with young people and supporting their education.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
• Proactive, patient and adaptable approach.
• Confidence to work independently as well as part of a wider school team.
• Interest in progressing into teaching, educational psychology or a related education career (desirable).
