Graduate Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are looking for a recent graduate to join an outstanding secondary school in Hackney as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. The role starts in September and provides full‑time, school‑based experience supporting students in Years 7‑11. You will work alongside experienced teachers to develop classroom practice before embarking on a PGCE or teacher‑training programme.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering lessons across a range of subjects for Years 7‑11.
• Support individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning objectives.
• Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback under teacher supervision.
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Recent university graduate with a strong interest in secondary education.
• Experience working with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering or similar activities.
• Enthusiastic, proactive and passionate about teaching.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
