Handyman – Commercial Property Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking a reliable, hands‑on Handyman to join a commercial property site in Chelmsford. You will be responsible for day‑to‑day maintenance, grounds upkeep and acting as the primary point of contact for commercial tenants.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs, basic carpentry, painting and general upkeep across ~40 commercial units.
• Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and prioritize work to minimise tenant disruption.
• Oversee larger refurbishment projects carried out by specialist contractors, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Maintain grass areas, prune trees, hedges and shrubs, and keep paths, car parks and communal spaces tidy and safe.
• Inspect vacant units, produce condition reports and coordinate any remedial work needed before re‑letting.
• Record all maintenance activity in the property management system and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.

Required profile

• Self‑starter with a practical mindset and pride in site presentation.
• Good communication skills for tenant liaison and contractor coordination.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
