Head of Compliance and Building Safety

About the role

The Head of Compliance and Building Safety will lead the strategic and operational delivery of all compliance functions across Look Ahead’s housing portfolio. Reporting to senior management, this role ensures statutory obligations are met while delivering high‑quality, customer‑focused services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and coach the Compliance and Building Safety team.
• Oversee statutory compliance for building, fire, gas, water hygiene, lifts, electrical systems and asbestos.
• Manage service contracts and remedial works to ensure value for money and minimal resident disruption.
• Procure and deliver inspections, testing and remedial programmes on schedule.
• Conduct regular compliance audits and produce assurance reports.
• Stay abreast of regulatory changes and embed best practices.

Required profile

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly motivated with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
• Proven experience in leading compliance functions within a housing or care environment.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations.
• Gas servicing expertise.
• Asbestos management competence.
• Mechanical and electrical compliance experience.
• Fire safety regulations.
• Compliance audit methodology.
