Head of Finance Business Partnering

About the role

The Head of Finance Business Partnering will lead the finance business partnering function at the Imperial War Museums, ensuring that financial insight drives strategic and commercial decisions across the organisation. Reporting to senior leadership, you will provide clear challenge, guidance and support to help achieve the museum’s mission while maintaining strong governance and value for money.

Key responsibilities

• Build and develop a high‑performing Finance Business Partnering team.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, delivering clear financial insight and constructive challenge.
• Collaborate closely with the Commercial directorate to support income growth, pricing and business planning.
• Translate organisational strategy into financial plans, budgets and performance measures.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and re‑forecasting processes aligned with priorities.
• Produce high‑quality reporting, analysis and scenario modelling for decision‑making.
• Support major strategic initiatives, investment cases and organisational change.
• Improve financial systems, reporting and processes to increase efficiency and transparency.
• Promote financial understanding across the organisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a finance business partnering or FP&A function.
• Strong ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
• Track record of supporting commercial performance and strategic decisions.
• Experience leading budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Ability to turn complex financial data into clear, actionable insight.
• Demonstrated team leadership and development skills.
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA) or equivalent experience.
• Strong analytical capabilities.
