Head of Finance (Charity) – Part‑Time

About the role

The Freelands Foundation seeks a part‑time Head of Finance to lead its finance function, ensuring robust reporting, compliance and strategic financial planning. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, you will manage day‑to‑day finance activities and support the Foundation’s ambitious growth plans.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the annual budgeting, re‑forecasting and scenario modelling processes.
• Produce monthly management accounts and high‑quality financial reports for senior leadership and the Board.
• Maintain accurate cash‑flow forecasts and manage relationships with banking partners and finance software providers.
• Oversee the year‑end audit, statutory accounts and compliance with Charity Commission and Companies House requirements.
• Coordinate US tax filings for the Foundation’s private‑foundation status.
• Line‑manage the Finance Officer and ensure the finance team operates efficiently.

Required profile

• Qualified chartered accountant with at least five years of senior‑level experience.
• Significant experience in finance leadership within the charity sector.
• In‑depth knowledge of UK Charity SORP and US Private Foundation regulations.
