About the role
We are looking for a Head of Financial Planning & Business Partnering to lead a dedicated finance team in Central London. Reporting to the Group Director of Finance, you will enhance financial planning, decision‑making and control while providing strategic finance partnership to the Executive team.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the finance team, set priorities, provide guidance and evaluate performance.
- Recruit new team members, foster development and create a motivating environment.
- Act as a business partner to the Executive Principal, supporting both College and Academies Executive Boards.
- Coordinate annual budget setting processes and ensure robust financial controls across the organisation.
- Oversee month‑end reporting, manage income postings and deliver financial analysis and forecasting.
- Prepare financial forecasts and accounts returns to meet regulatory compliance.
- Provide project accounting support and oversee development of investment cases.
- Coordinate the development and delivery of financial training sessions for budget holders.
Required profile
- Full membership of a recognised accountancy body (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc or equivalent).
- Proven line‑management experience in finance business partnering, budgeting, forecasting and financial control, preferably in a regulated education environment.
- Knowledge of education sector funding, regulatory returns and audit requirements.
- Strong analytical ability in financial modelling and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting financial information clearly and persuasively.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and technical accounting.
