Head of Modern Workplace

About the role

We are partnering with a leading consultancy on an internal digital transformation journey and need a senior leader to shape the future of modern workplace technologies such as Microsoft 365, Azure, AI/Copilot, automation, security and identity. The role acts as the organisation’s technical authority, guiding investment choices and providing occasional hands‑on technical leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve technology strategy, roadmap and architectural standards across cloud, infrastructure and modern workplace solutions.
• Lead technical direction for Azure public, private and hybrid cloud, datacentre services and Microsoft 365 estate (Entra ID, Intune, Azure Virtual Desktop).
• Shape modern workplace strategy covering identity, endpoint management, collaboration, virtual desktop and secure access.
• Establish standards and reference architectures for cloud migration, modernisation, networking, resilience and security.
• Evaluate emerging technologies (AI, Copilot, automation) and drive digital transformation initiatives.
• Provide governance, mentoring and direction to architects, managers and subject‑matter experts.

Required profile

• Proven senior technology leader with experience in technical authority, enterprise/solution architecture and technology strategy.
• Hands‑on expertise with Microsoft Azure (public, private, hybrid) and recent experience delivering Microsoft 365/Modern Workplace solutions.
• Track record of cloud migration, transformation and modernisation projects.
• Industry background in MSP, cloud environments or consultancy is highly advantageous.
