Head of Procurement – Strategic Purchasing Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Procurement to lead strategic purchasing for our Salford‑based operation. The role will drive sourcing initiatives, manage supplier relationships and support the company’s focus on sustainability, innovation and staff development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement short‑, medium‑ and long‑term purchasing strategies.
• Identify new products aligned with market trends and review existing portfolios.
• Assess financial and operational suitability of new suppliers.
• Negotiate prices and trading agreements to achieve budget targets.
• Interpret sales reports and forecast future demand.
• Maintain regular meetings with existing suppliers to manage product supply.
• Deliver best possible pricing to sales teams and ensure targets are met.
• Manage supplier relationships and procurement portfolios while applying best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in an FMCG environment, preferably within Healthcare, Personal Care, Cleaning or Janitorial product sectors.
• Strong track record of negotiating complex contracts and achieving cost savings.
• Ability to work cross‑departmentally and influence stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
