Head of Production

About the role

This is a brand‑new Head of Production position within a growing manufacturing business near Bolton. You will be responsible for shaping the future of production, ensuring reliability, efficiency and quality while fostering a collaborative culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day production operations across all shifts, coordinating resources, materials, equipment and staff to meet customer requirements.
• Monitor performance metrics such as downtime, waste, labour efficiency and output quality, taking corrective action when targets are missed.
• Support the introduction of new products, processes or packaging formats in close partnership with engineering and quality teams.
• Lead and develop production supervisors, team leaders and shop‑floor staff, setting clear expectations for performance, conduct, quality and safety.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to succession planning for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale manufacturing operations.
• Strong leadership and people‑development skills, with a track record of coaching teams to high performance.
• Excellent problem‑solving ability and data‑driven decision making.
• Commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
