Health & Safety Consultant – Fixed‑Term (3‑4 months)

About the role

This contract position supports a fast‑track improvement of health and safety compliance across a multi‑site organisation. Over a 3‑4 month period you will lead audits, close compliance gaps and ensure the business is inspection‑ready under UK HSE regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed health & safety audits in laboratories, production areas and offices.
• Identify and remediate compliance gaps to achieve full UK HSE and GMP readiness.
• Review and update policies, SOPs, risk assessments and COSHH documentation.
• Deliver or support health & safety awareness training for staff.
• Ensure proper use of PPE, signage, fire safety and first‑aid provisions.
• Manage COSHH registers and guarantee GMP‑compliant handling of chemicals.
• Improve waste‑management practices and overall housekeeping standards.
• Oversee incident reporting, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action implementation.

Required profile

• Relevant health & safety qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent).
• Proven experience in health & safety, compliance or audit roles, preferably within regulated environments such as pharmaceuticals or laboratories.
• Strong knowledge of UK HSE regulations, COSHH and GMP frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing abilities.
• Analytical, problem‑solving and highly organised with a results‑driven approach.
