Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator – Contract

About the role
This contract position supports a leading advanced‑manufacturing organisation in a highly regulated environment. You will coordinate health, safety and environmental activities, drive chemical compliance programmes and provide day‑to‑day HSE support across manufacturing and engineering operations.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate HSE activities across multiple manufacturing areas.
- Support a long‑term programme to phase out regulated chemicals and implement REACh‑compliant alternatives.
- Develop, review and maintain risk assessments (general H&S, COSHH, environmental, ergonomic).
- Assist with accident, incident and near‑miss investigations and track corrective actions.
- Provide HSE guidance on legislation, best practice and PPE requirements.
- Manage chemical compliance tasks, including registration, exposure monitoring and documentation.
- Deliver REACh and chemical safety training to relevant stakeholders.
- Work with project teams to embed HSE and environmental requirements into new and existing processes.
- Support confined‑space activities, equipment calibration, atmospheric monitoring and chemical storage compliance.
Required profile
- Collaborative attitude with a proactive approach to health, safety and environmental performance.
- Background in chemicals or a NEBOSH Certificate (Level 3) or equivalent, or IOSH Managing Safely with willingness to work towards NEBOSH.
- Experience in a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
- Good understanding of UK REACh regulations and chemical compliance.
- Experience completing COSHH and workplace risk assessments.
Required skills
- NEBOSH Certificate (Level 3) or equivalent.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- Knowledge of UK REACh regulations.
- Proficiency in COSHH risk assessment and documentation.
- Experience with chemical compliance registration and exposure monitoring.
- Ability to develop and implement environmental action plans.
- Confined‑space procedures and atmospheric monitoring.
