Heavy Vehicle Recovery Operator

About the role

Join Go‑Ahead London as a Heavy Vehicle Recovery Operator based at Putney Garage. You will be the frontline professional who restores service after breakdowns, ensuring buses and other heavy vehicles are recovered safely and efficiently across the capital.

Key responsibilities

• Operate heavy recovery vehicles to transport disabled buses and other large vehicles to depots or safe locations.
• Apply appropriate recovery techniques, secure loads, and follow roadside safety procedures.
• Respond to incidents promptly, working shifts that may include evenings, nights and weekends.
• Maintain accurate records of recovery operations and communicate status to the operations centre.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating heavy recovery vehicles (HGV/PSV background preferred).
• Valid Category C+E (Class 1) HGV licence with Driver CPC.
• Ability to stay calm, think independently and solve problems under pressure.
• Professional, customer‑focused attitude when representing Go‑Ahead London.
