About the role
The Royal College of Music is seeking a distinguished practitioner to join its Historical Performance Faculty as a Historical Lute Professor. This permanent, part‑time position will begin in September 2026 and involves teaching lute at the highest level of musical and technical proficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in historical lute performance.
- Mentor students, guiding them to achieve their full artistic potential.
- Contribute to the Faculty’s international outlook through collaborations and contacts.
- Participate in departmental meetings, examinations and research activities.
Required profile
- Widely recognised performer or teacher of the historical lute.
- Extensive experience teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels.
- Strong international network and global perspective on music performance.
- Understanding of the professional demands of a music career.
