Inbound Call Centre Operative

About the role

Join NHS Shared Business Services as an Inbound Call Centre Operative, providing essential support to employees on payroll, pensions and other HR queries. You will work one day a week on‑site in Southampton and the remainder remotely, following a rotating shift schedule between 8 am and 6 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls from internal and external customers, delivering professional and efficient service.
• Resolve queries during the first contact wherever possible, adhering to customer service standards.
• Record clear, concise notes and follow data protection guidelines.
• Provide accurate information to staff, line managers and HR teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of service processes.

Required profile

• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Ability to stay calm and empathetic during emotive conversations.
• Strong multitasking and prioritisation abilities.
• Previous experience in a customer‑facing environment such as retail, hospitality or office work.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

• Full‑time permanent contract with a salary of £26,300 per annum.
