Income Officer – Social Housing (Hybrid, Liverpool)

About the role

We are seeking an Income Officer to join a leading social housing organisation in Liverpool. The position is hybrid and initially fixed for six months, focusing on maximising rental income and supporting tenants to sustain their tenancies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage rent arrears and negotiate affordable repayment agreements.
• Support customers with income maximisation and welfare benefit queries.
• Conduct home visits and engage directly with tenants across the local area.
• Work with internal teams and external agencies to sustain tenancies and prevent eviction.
• Take appropriate recovery action, including preparing cases for court where necessary.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Contribute to team performance targets and service improvements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in income management, rent recovery, debt collection or a similar housing‑related role.
• Experience managing a caseload and working towards performance targets.
• Strong communication, negotiation and customer service abilities.
• Knowledge of welfare benefits and tenancy sustainment principles.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
