Indirect Tax Manager - UK and AMEA

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Manager to lead UK VAT compliance and support indirect tax activities across several European jurisdictions. The role sits within a high‑profile Group Tax function of a global engineering and professional services organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end UK VAT compliance processes.
• Review and oversee UK VAT returns and related submissions.
• Provide review and support for VAT compliance in Ireland, France, Germany, Switzerland and other European jurisdictions.
• Advise on major projects, cross‑border transactions and joint operations.
• Act as the primary contact for HMRC, managing VAT‑related enquiries.
• Support SAO reporting requirements relating to VAT.

Required profile

• Professional tax qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Significant UK VAT technical knowledge.
• Experience managing VAT compliance processes within a complex organisation.
• Proven ability to provide practical VAT advice on commercial transactions.
• Experience liaising with HMRC and external advisers.
• Strong technical VAT expertise gained in industry, practice or a combination of both.
