Investigator – Operational Warden (Full‑time, Temporary)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Investigator – Operational Warden to join a police force in Ashton‑under‑Lyne. The role focuses on high‑quality investigations into hate‑crime offences, supporting the force’s ambition to increase reporting and community confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate antisemitic and other priority hate‑crime offences as directed.
• Manage investigations to a PIP 2 standard, handling serious and complex cases.
• Collaborate with the Warden Investigation Team, Neighbourhood Policing Teams and specialist operations.
• Allocate workload, oversee investigative standards and quality assurance.
• Provide performance management and development for junior investigators.
• Support peak demand periods linked to religious dates, geopolitical events and community incidents.

Required profile

• Proven experience in investigative roles, preferably within hate‑crime or related fields.
• Strong understanding of investigative procedures and legal compliance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for victim engagement.
• Ability to manage complex cases and work under pressure during peak periods.
• Commitment to professional development and knowledge sharing.

Required skills

• Knowledge of police investigative procedures and evidence handling.
• Familiarity with legal frameworks governing hate‑crime offences.
