Investment Banking Intern – Mining & Metals

About the role

Join the Mining & Metals Investment Banking team at National Bank of Canada Capital Markets in London as an intern. You will support deal execution and origination activities, gaining exposure to complex advisory and financing mandates within the natural resources sector.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating corporate clients' financial needs, including financial modelling and valuation analysis.
• Support transaction structuring and execution of advisory and financing mandates.
• Prepare presentations, pitch books, and marketing materials for client decision‑making.
• Draft investor presentations, prospectuses, offering memoranda, and other transaction documents.
• Conduct company, industry, commodity, and market research focused on mining & metals.
• Support senior team members with deal execution, project coordination, and client coverage.
• Maintain financial databases and help prepare internal and external reports.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, engineering, or related fields.
• Strong academic record with analytical and quantitative abilities.
• Previous internship experience in investment banking, corporate finance, transaction advisory, equity research, consulting, or capital markets is desirable.
• Strong interest in the mining & metals or broader natural resources sectors.
• Basic understanding of financial statements, valuation methodologies, and capital markets.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet, or similar financial databases.
