Java Tech Lead

About the role

Our client, a leading insurer, is expanding its technology team and seeks a Java Tech Lead. The role combines hands‑on development with technical leadership, working two days a week on‑site in London.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of Java‑based applications, spending roughly 80% of time coding.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into robust solutions.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to ensure quality, performance, and scalability.
• Maintain technical documentation and resolve technical challenges promptly.
• Stay current with emerging Java technologies and industry best practices.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to align technical delivery with business objectives.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands‑on experience in Agentic Development.
• Familiarity with Camunda BPM or similar workflow engines.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes (K8s) for container orchestration.
• Fluent use of AI‑assisted coding tools.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Nice‑to‑have: Angular front‑end development.
