Junior Apparel Buyer (Retail)

About the role

Mountain Warehouse is a rapidly growing global retailer with over 430 stores worldwide and a strong online presence. We are seeking an enthusiastic, resourceful, and hardworking Apparel Junior Buyer to grow with the company and add value to our team. An exceptional eye for detail and the ability to build effective relationships across the business are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in seasonal range plan development by analysing customer buying patterns, forecasting sales, and presenting findings in clear reports.
• Buy for key territories including the UK, EU, North America, Australia and New Zealand, working with the Head of Buying to maximise profits.
• Review stock, sales and orders regularly, reacting urgently to meet sales, stock and profit targets.
• Maintain supplier relationships and liaise with internal departments to ensure project completion.
• Participate in promotional activities, identify slow‑moving stock and coordinate markdowns and clearance events.
• Create style books, manage the critical path from product development to delivery, and ensure timelines are met.
• Train and mentor team members, manage sample processes, and approve shipments.
• Travel nationally and internationally for store visits, supplier meetings and trade shows.

Required profile

• Relevant experience at Junior Buyer level within a retail chain or equivalent.
• Apparel buying experience is highly beneficial.
• Ability to manage the critical path for the department.
• Commercial mindset with awareness of competitors and market trends.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building supplier and colleague relationships.
• Excellent time‑management and prioritisation abilities.
