Junior Commercial Counsel (0-2 PQE) – South West – Flexible

About the role

This position offers the chance to provide pragmatic, commercially‑focused legal advice across a wide range of strategic and operational matters for a leading consumer‑facing business. You will work within a high‑performing legal team, supporting procurement, supplier negotiations and key commercial initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including supply, technology, logistics and services agreements.
• Provide practical legal advice to stakeholders, balancing legal risk with commercial priorities.
• Support strategic procurement projects and supplier negotiations.
• Identify, assess and manage legal and commercial risks to enable informed decision‑making.
• Advise on data protection, privacy, information governance, regulatory, consumer, competition and intellectual property matters.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, standard terms and legal playbooks.
• Manage pre‑litigation disputes and liaise with external legal advisers when required.
• Deliver training and guidance on legal, contractual and compliance issues.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
• Proven experience advising on commercial legal matters, either in private practice or in‑house.
• Strong commercial contracts expertise with excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrable ability to balance legal risk against commercial priorities.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
