Junior WordPress Developer

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior WordPress Developer to join a fast‑growing digital agency in Basingstoke. You will work alongside senior developers and designers, gaining experience across the full web development lifecycle and progressing towards a Full Stack role.

Key responsibilities

• Create, customise and maintain bespoke WordPress themes and plugins.
• Transform design wireframes into clean, responsive, cross‑browser web pages.
• Write scalable code using HTML5, SCSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and PHP.
• Develop and optimise SQL queries for MySQL databases.
• Assist with deployment processes on AWS and Linux environments.
• Troubleshoot functional issues, fix bugs and implement improvements on client sites.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging web technologies and tooling.

Required profile

• Commercial experience in an agency, software house or in‑house development team.
• Proven experience building or maintaining WordPress sites (themes/plugins).
• Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript and responsive design.
• Basic knowledge of database interactions and MySQL/SQL query writing.
• Comfortable using IDEs such as Visual Studio Code, Git version control and local development environments.
• Passion for web technology and a desire to grow towards Full Stack development.
