KS1 Teacher (Year 1/2) – Primary School

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Key Stage 1 (KS1) teacher to join a supportive local primary school team. The role focuses on Year 1 and Year 2 pupils, helping them build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver daily systematic synthetic phonics sessions and high‑impact literacy activities.
• Plan and deliver engaging, play‑infused lessons that meet National Curriculum standards.
• Use formative assessment to track progress and provide targeted support.
• Collaborate with colleagues on schemes of work, resources and CPD programmes.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment where young learners feel encouraged to take risks.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – ECTs and NQTs are welcome.
• Strong understanding of systematic synthetic phonics (SSP) delivery.
• Ability to manage a vibrant KS1 classroom with energy and patience.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain) and a commitment to safeguarding.
