Lab Quality Control (QC) Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a Lab Quality Control (QC) Assistant to join a busy materials‑testing laboratory in Chorley. The role is ideal for a recent A‑Level science graduate or someone with prior laboratory experience in manufacturing, engineering or a related field. You will work on a rotating shift pattern, performing routine testing to ensure raw materials, in‑process samples and finished goods meet strict quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine QC testing on raw materials, in‑process samples and finished products.
• Prepare samples, perform viscosity, dimensional and other physical/analytical tests.
• Operate laboratory equipment safely and record, analyse and report results accurately.
• Identify and escalate non‑conforming results and support product release activities.
• Maintain laboratory records, label and store samples, and assist with equipment calibration and routine maintenance.
• Support stock control of consumables and uphold health, safety and housekeeping standards.
• Participate in investigations and continuous‑improvement projects with Quality, Production and Technical teams.

Required profile

• Recent A‑Level science qualification or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern and adapt to a fast‑paced environment.
