Lead Engineer – Manufacturing & Process

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Engineer to provide technical support and leadership to our Production and Logistics departments. You will identify operational improvements, develop processes, and ensure quality, cost, and efficiency targets are met on time.

Key responsibilities

• Set goals, standards and guide Manufacturing Engineers, Junior Engineers and Technicians to achieve them.
• Develop, monitor and report key performance metrics and maintain departmental procedures.
• Provide full engineering support across the facility, including prep, honing and stores, to achieve production targets.
• Manage projects within agreed timeframes and budgets, producing clear documentation.
• Design and develop lean manufacturing cells, assembly and testing fixtures, and lead cost‑reduction initiatives.

Required profile

• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (engineering apprenticeship preferred).
• Proven experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, managing projects on time and within budget.
• Working knowledge of CAD systems and of hydraulics and/or pneumatics.
• Strong understanding of lean principles, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban; Six Sigma qualification advantageous.
