Lead Engineer – Powertrain Controls Embedded Software

About the role

Lotus UK Manufacturing is looking for a Lead Engineer to drive the development of power‑train control systems for our high‑performance sports cars, including the Emira and the all‑electric Evija. You will lead technical work, mentor junior engineers, and ensure our control software meets performance and emissions targets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and validate manual C‑code for engine and transmission management systems.
• Create control algorithm specifications, validation criteria and test plans.
• Develop calibration procedures and use calibration tools to tune engine control algorithms.
• Integrate power‑train control software into the vehicle’s electrical architecture.
• Support manufacturing, after‑sales and client programmes with technical expertise.
• Lead smaller projects, prepare technical documentation and present status reports.
• Coordinate emission testing and provide input for ECU and I/O specifications.

Required profile

• Significant experience authoring manual C‑code for combustion engine or transmission control.
• Strong understanding of emissions, performance targets and vehicle electrical systems.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe for testing and supplier visits.
