General Operator - Trim (Temporary On-going)

About the role

Lotus UK Manufacturing is looking for General Operators to join its Manufacturing team in Hethel, Norfolk. You will support the preparation, trimming, finishing and assembly of vehicle interior components in a hands-on workshop. The role is temporary on-going, paid through a supporting agency, at 38 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, measure, mark and cut leather, fabric, vinyl, foam and other trim materials using patterns and templates.
• Operate industrial sewing machines to join trim materials, including decorative and functional stitching.
• Support embroidery processes for logos, branding and decorative features.
• Remove and replace existing leather, fabric and trim materials in preparation for retrimming.
• Apply adhesives correctly and position, stretch, wrap and bond materials onto components.
• Trim and finish materials, including forming corners and edges and checking seams and joins.
• Assemble and fit completed trim components and inspect finished work for defects such as wrinkles, creases, stitching defects and misalignment.
• Carry out controlled rework and repairs, follow documented processes and production times, and report quality or production concerns to the Team Leader.

Required profile

• Ideally previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience with leather, fabric or other covering materials.
• Basic trimming, sewing, upholstery or similar practical skills.
• Good hand-to-eye coordination, attention to detail and basic mechanical skills with hand and power tools.
• Ability to read written instructions, work to production times and quality standards, and communicate well in a team.
• Reliable, flexible and self-motivated; previous vehicle trimming experience is desirable.
• A City & Guilds, NVQ or similar qualification in Vehicle Trimming or a related discipline is advantageous.
• Training is provided for candidates with limited trimming experience.

The role is physically demanding, involves standing and lifting, and takes place in a rural location not served by regular public transport, so reliable travel to work is needed.
