Lead Swimming Teacher (Part‑time)

About the role

GLL is seeking a Lead Swimming Teacher to join its Helston centre on a part‑time basis. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality swimming lessons while guiding a team of teachers to maintain consistent standards and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a welcoming, professional poolside service and uphold the centre’s positive image.
• Ensure pupil safety, enforce relevant regulations, and follow safeguarding and behaviour policies.
• Lead, motivate and mentor a team of swimming teachers, coordinating registers, grouping swimmers and managing ratios.
• Monitor and record pupil progression, supporting award completion and updating records.
• Assist with new enrolments and re‑enrolments as directed by the General Manager.

Required profile

• Approachable, patient and able to build trust with pupils.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate learners.
• Knowledge of health, safety legislation and child protection policies.
• Experience in delivering swimming lessons and supporting teacher development.

Required skills

• STA Certificate level or Swim England Level 2 qualification.
• National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches (preferred).
