Legal Counsel – Digital Media & Sports

About the role

VERSANT is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its International HQ in Belfast. The role will primarily support the BRS Golf and GolfNow businesses while also providing legal advice to broader digital ventures such as Fandango. This position reports to the Senior Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs and offers hybrid working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Advise internal business clients on legal matters affecting Versant’s Digital Platforms and Ventures, including GolfNow, BRS Golf, and Fandango.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts such as strategic partnerships, sponsorships, vendor and supplier agreements, and technology licensing agreements (MSA, SaaS, etc.).
• Assess legal implications of emerging technology products and ensure compliance with data protection, privacy, consumer protection, digital services and platform regulations across relevant territories.
• Provide legal guidance on marketing and advertising activities, including promotions, competitions, sweepstakes, and website terms and conditions.
• Support business growth initiatives through due‑diligence, jurisdictional research and liaison with internal specialist legal and compliance teams.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer who is newly qualified or has up to three years of post‑qualification experience.
• Ability to work in an international, fast‑moving environment.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Required skills

• Contract drafting and negotiation.
• Legal research on data protection, privacy and consumer protection laws.
• Understanding of technology licensing agreements (MSA, SaaS).
• Knowledge of marketing and advertising regulations.
