Legal Counsel – Technology Sector (In-house)

About the role

This is an in‑house Legal Counsel position within a fast‑growing, regulated technology business located at Cambridge Science Park. You will work closely with the General Counsel and the wider European legal team, providing legal support across R&D, procurement, marketing and business development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance for R&D and research‑related activities, covering procurement, marketing and business development.
• Draft and review a variety of agreements, including MSAs, NDAs, IP licences and real‑estate contracts.
• Support statutory compliance in areas such as data protection, anti‑bribery, modern slavery and export controls.
• Deliver training sessions for non‑legal staff on compliance and legal risk topics.
• Collaborate with the European legal team to support research centres across the U.K. and EU.

Required profile

• U.K. qualified solicitor.
• Minimum 2 years post‑SQE experience in the technology sector, either in‑house or at a law firm.
• Knowledge of export controls (experience with ECJU or similar government bodies is a plus).
• Strong understanding of UK commercial law, statutory compliance, IP and data privacy.
• Ability to explain complex legal issues in clear, jargon‑free English.
• Excellent drafting ability and attention to detail.
• Proven capability to build relationships with global and diverse teams.
