Literacy Tutor – Support English & Literacy in Havering Schools

About the role
The Literacy Tutor role is a full‑time, long‑term position supporting pupils across primary and secondary schools in Havering. It is ideal for recent graduates passionate about closing the attainment gap and helping students develop confidence in reading, writing and communication.
Key responsibilities
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils needing extra help with literacy, including EAL learners.
- Work closely with teachers and school staff to help pupils access learning, improve attainment and build confidence.
Required profile
- First‑class or 2:1 degree in English, Humanities, Modern Languages or a related subject from a UK university.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.
Required skills
- TEFL qualification or experience working with EAL students (desirable but not essential).
- Previous tutoring, mentoring, teaching or child‑centred experience.
