Maintenance Assistant – Charlwood

About the role

Berry Recruitment is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join a well‑established team in Charlwood. This hands‑on position ensures the site remains safe, well‑maintained and fully operational for staff, visitors and service users. You will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 am‑4:00 pm, on a three‑month contract with an immediate start.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) checks.
• Perform general building repairs, including basic plumbing, painting, decorating and furniture repairs.
• Monitor fire alarms, emergency lighting and other site facilities.
• Maintain external areas such as pathways, car parks and storage spaces.
• Undertake gardening and grounds‑maintenance duties.
• Support external contractors on‑site and keep accurate maintenance records.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, caretaker or handyman role.
• Strong practical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Attention to detail with the capacity to prioritise tasks.
• Reliable, proactive and able to work independently.
