Maintenance Assistant & Trainee Roles – Multiple NHS Sites

About the role

The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is hiring Maintenance Assistants (Band 3) and Maintenance Trainees (Band 2) to join its Estates teams across several hospital sites. These hands‑on positions ensure that buildings, equipment and environments remain safe, compliant and welcoming for patients, visitors and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine and reactive maintenance tasks on building fabric and plant.
• Respond to work orders, carry out repairs and ensure timely completion.
• Support health and safety compliance, including smoke‑free policies.
• Assist senior tradespeople and contribute to multi‑trade projects.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Required profile

• For Band 3 roles, proven multi‑trade experience in a similar environment.
• For Band 2 trainee roles, willingness to learn and develop trade skills.
• Ability to work safely in a healthcare setting and follow NHS procedures.
• Flexibility to work across various sites as required.
