Maintenance Operative – Canary Wharf, £35k per annum

About the role

Join a leading provider of purpose‑built student accommodation in Canary Wharf as a Maintenance Operative. You will be responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance, ensuring a safe, secure and well‑maintained environment for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out day‑to‑day reactive and planned preventative maintenance tasks.
• Identify and rectify issues such as minor plumbing repairs, unblocked sinks and showers, painting and decorating.
• Conduct regular building inspections, log observations using company systems and ensure communal areas, plant rooms and risers remain safe.
• Collaborate with Customer and Night Teams to resolve issues and deliver a high‑quality resident experience.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and property documentation.
• Support onboarding of new colleagues by sharing knowledge and best practice.
• Assist on‑site contractors, ensuring works comply with health, safety and fire safety procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Operative, Maintenance Technician or similar within residential, PBSA, BTR, hospitality or commercial property.
• Experience delivering both reactive and planned preventative maintenance.
• Trade qualification or strong practical experience in plumbing or electrical maintenance.
• Familiarity with sustainable or energy‑efficient buildings (e.g., Passivhaus) is advantageous.
