Maintenance Technician – Heavy Plant & HGVs

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team in Dover, working on a diverse range of heavy plant, HGVs and specialist port equipment. The role involves maintaining and repairing mobile plant and supporting critical port infrastructure in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair HGVs, mobile and harbour cranes, forklift trucks, telehandlers and other mobile plant.
• Support the upkeep of critical port infrastructure and specialist equipment.
• Respond to emergency call‑outs, overtime and standby/24‑7 rota as required.
• Produce and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Utilise maintenance management or ERP systems for planning and reporting.

Required profile

• Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years post‑apprenticeship engineering experience.
• Experience maintaining HGVs, heavy or hydraulic plant.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Experience creating and reviewing RAMS.
• Good IT proficiency and experience with maintenance/ERP software.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Welding and fabrication experience desirable but not essential.
