Management Accountant – Construction (Runcorn)

About the role

As a Management Accountant within a £60m construction business in Runcorn, you will support the Finance Controller and senior leadership team by delivering accurate financial reporting, cash‑flow management and strategic insight to drive informed decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial partnership to the Commercial Director and senior leadership, offering insight, challenge and support for key decisions.
• Lead P&L and cash‑flow management, collaborating with Commercial and QS teams.
• Maintain project financial reporting – cost tracking, budget monitoring, margin analysis, WIP and accruals.
• Own month‑end close, including accruals, pre‑payments, staff allocations and variance analysis.
• Manage the Fixed Asset Register, VAT returns and inter‑company reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, business‑unit reporting packs and support audit documentation.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, business planning and root‑cause analysis of financial issues.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a similar role within housebuilding or construction.
• Strong technical grounding and high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
