Client Manager – Accountancy Practice

About the role

The practice is seeking an experienced Client Manager to lead a portfolio of corporate clients, delivering high‑quality financial reporting and tax advisory services. This senior, permanent position offers the chance to develop long‑term client relationships, mentor junior staff and contribute to the growth of a respected accountancy firm.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for a portfolio of corporate clients, understanding their objectives and building lasting partnerships.
• Oversee corporate tax compliance, including preparation of tax computations, calculation of provisions and filing of Company Tax Returns.
• Prepare and review statutory financial statements, consolidated accounts and management accounts.
• Identify tax‑saving opportunities such as R&D tax credits and advise on risk‑mitigation strategies.
• Manage, train and mentor junior accountants to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
• Negotiate and renew client contracts, develop account plans aligned with business goals and pursue upselling or cross‑selling opportunities.
• Monitor account budgets, profitability and produce regular performance reports.
• Travel to local offices to meet clients and attend team meetings as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar client‑management or accounts role within an accountancy practice.
• ACA, ACCA or AAT qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and corporation tax legislation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop junior staff.
• Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
