Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

The Manufacturing Engineer will independently develop, prove and improve manufacturing processes, methods and capabilities for new and existing products throughout their lifecycle. Reporting to an Engineering Team Leader or Engineering Manager, the role works closely with Design Engineering, R&D, Production Engineering, Quality, Projects and Manufacturing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, define and optimise manufacturing processes, methods and workflows for new and existing products.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by ensuring tooling, processes and documentation are fully defined and validated before hand‑over to production.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers to influence product designs for manufacturability, assembly and test (DFM/DFA).
• Design, specify and support manufacturing tooling, fixtures, jigs, assembly test rigs and aids using traditional and modern techniques.
• Maintain ERP/MRP data such as part numbers, routes, bills of material, work centres and batch sizes.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments and PFMEAs, escalating risks when necessary.
• Lead or support pilot builds, pre‑production runs and process‑development trials.
• Analyse production data and process capability to identify improvement opportunities.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives using Lean principles (5S, Kaizen, SMED, error‑proofing).
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, SOPs, work instructions and training materials.
• Support welding activities, welding procedure specifications and qualification records.

Required profile

• Works autonomously within a defined scope while escalating final approvals to senior engineers.
• Collaborates effectively with cross‑functional teams across design, quality and production.
• Strong analytical mindset for data‑driven process optimisation.
