Manufacturing Engineering Manager

About the role

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead the Engineering function within the Operations department, coordinating internal teams and external suppliers to deliver high‑quality products. This role is based in Didcot and focuses on driving manufacturing readiness, cost reduction and continuous improvement across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Manufacturing Engineering function to meet safety, quality, delivery, cost and growth targets.
• Develop and execute the manufacturing engineering strategy and roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Own the industrialisation process for new products, ensuring tooling, fixtures, test capability and documentation are ready for launch.
• Act as the site technical authority for manufacturing processes, equipment and industrialisation activities.
• Design, develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, systems and equipment.
• Identify, evaluate and implement automation, digitisation and Industry 4.0 solutions.
• Lead programme management of NPI, CAPEX, automation and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Support Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) activities.
• Drive cost‑reduction, waste elimination and productivity improvement initiatives.
• Assess capacity and resource requirements to support future growth.
• Own the TPM programme and maintenance strategy for shop‑floor equipment.
• Ensure preventative‑maintenance plans, spares strategies, uptime targets and reliability metrics are effective.
• Maintain and improve production test equipment, fixtures and methods.
• Facilitate root‑cause investigations using 8D, DMAIC and CAPA methodologies.
• Lead the site Continuous Improvement programme, including training, coaching and project delivery.
• Manage CAPEX budgets, departmental expenditure and business‑case preparation.
