Mechanical Contracts Manager – South West England

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager to lead and deliver mechanical projects for a well‑established M&E contractor operating across the Defence, Education and Healthcare sectors in the South West. You will own the project lifecycle from contract award through to commissioning and handover, ensuring safety, quality and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Manage mechanical projects from award to completion, delivering on schedule and budget.
• Lead site teams, subcontractors and supply‑chain partners.
• Procure materials, plant and subcontract packages.
• Monitor programme progress and produce regular reports.
• Maintain strong client relationships and manage commercial performance.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality and contractual requirements.
• Deliver projects under JCT and Design & Build contracts.

Required profile

• Proven mechanical engineering background with delivery of £2m+ projects.
• Experience in Defence, Education, Healthcare or similar sectors.
• Excellent client‑facing and stakeholder management abilities.
• Current SMSTS, First Aid and CSCS cards.
• Proactive, forward‑thinking attitude with strong IT competence.
