Mechanical Design Engineer – Test Systems

About the role

Red Bull Powertrains is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of test systems that connect the power unit (ICE, ERS, ESS, Turbo) with both fired and non‑fired test facilities. You will work closely with the Test Design Team and other engineering groups to ensure the unit under test meets verification and confirmation criteria.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical rigs and sub‑system test capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver mechanical design projects on time.
• Lead fault‑resolution activities and assess non‑conformance requests.
• Perform hand‑calculations, run models, and support test‑system modelling.
• Ensure designs comply with GD&T, DFM, and DFA requirements.

Required profile

• Proven ability to deliver mechanical design projects independently and as part of a team.
• Strong decision‑making skills under tight timelines and imperfect data.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Physics or equivalent.
• High competence in mechanical, fluid and thermal analysis of components.

Required skills

• Proficient with Siemens NX or other CAD packages.
• Good understanding of drafting, GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Knowledge of DFM and DFA principles.
• Experience with hand‑calculations, modelling and test‑systems simulation.
• Capability in mechanical, fluid and thermal analysis.
