Mechanical Engineer X6 – Contract (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer (X6) on a 12‑month contract, based in Bristol with hybrid working. The role supports a major UK land defence programme, delivering mechanical engineering expertise and integrating multiple disciplines. Candidates must be eligible for UK Security Clearance and operate within an Inside IR35 contract.

Key responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering expertise across the programme.
• Identify, investigate and resolve cross‑project engineering issues.
• Support Project Leads and Chief Engineers with technical recommendations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Identify design conflicts and integration challenges.
• Participate in focused engineering working groups.
• Contribute to engineering risk identification and mitigation.
• Produce technical documentation.
• Ensure activities align with programme standards and best practice.

Required profile

• Engineering qualification.
• Professionally Registered Engineering Technician (EngTech) or equivalent.
• Experience delivering technical engineering solutions.
• Ability to communicate technical information to a range of stakeholders.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
