Mechanical Technician – University of Bristol Site

About the role

NG Bailey is building a brand‑new team to support a flagship building at the University of Bristol. The Mechanical Technician will work a days‑only shift pattern (with occasional weekend cover) delivering both planned and reactive mechanical building services maintenance on a high‑profile site.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical plant and systems in line with SFG20 and agreed programmes.
• Respond to reactive faults and complete minor works within contractual SLAs and KPIs.
• Work with pipework, pumps, boilers, cooling towers and water‑treatment systems; BMS knowledge is a plus.
• Maintain accurate records, job sheets and compliance documentation via the client’s CAFM system.
• Build strong day‑to‑day relationships with the University team and on‑site FM partners, delivering exceptional customer service.
• Work safely at all times following risk assessments, method statements and NG Bailey health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Hands‑on, reliable technician with solid mechanical or M&E experience.
• Proactive attitude and ability to work independently as well as part of a growing team.
• Client‑facing with good communication and a professional manner.
• Background in mechanical building services, plumbing, HVAC or general mechanical maintenance.
• Experience with mechanical plant such as pipework, pumps, boilers or cooling towers.
• Mechanical City & Guilds (Part 1 & 2), apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (preferred but not essential).
